VFW will host blood drive Saturday and food distribution Friday at post

In recognition of Armed Forces Day the VFW will host a Blood Drive with Marsh Regional Blood Center. The drive will be held Saturday, May 15th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To sign up to donate please call Maci Andrews at 423-282-7091. All donors will receive a t-shirt and a snack. There will also be a booth set up to answer questions and assist veterans with all types of VA benefits.
VFW Post 2166 Auxiliary will do a food distribution with Second Harvest Food Bank for veterans and their families that need assistance  Friday, May 14, at 2 p.m.. The food distribution will be held at the VFW Post at 2001 West Elk Ave, Elizabethton.
Those, who plan to attend the food distribution are asked to have room in their trunk for the food box and to pop their trunk once they arrive in the line at the post. They can remain in their car and the food box will be loaded for them. The food distribution will be done with no person to person contact to protect each person’s health.
Second Harvest has requested the VFW provide them with an approximate number of food boxes needed so please call David Batchelder at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824 to sign up if you plan to come for the food distribution. This will help us ensure there is adequate food available.
